Practice + study!
What to study really depends on what you want to do, and on *how* you want to do it!
Someone who aim for a realistic style will learn about anatomy and perspective, while someone who aim for a more experimental style will learn whatever he finds cool and will build upon it :3
As for Practice, you have to be consistent on it, without overworking yourself either. Simple doodles are practice too!
